The importance of clean electricity in minimizing your carbon footprint

If you want to minimize your carbon footprint, there are hundreds of things you could do. It’s overwhelming. But not all these things are equal. In fact, there are really just a small handful of actions you can take that will get you most of the way there.

Many of these major actions fall under the two-part strategy of electrifying everything and switching to 100% clean electricity to power it all.

Electrifying everything means upgrading all the health-harming, planet-heating things you use in or around your house (think: fossil-fuel-powered cooking machines, cars, boilers, furnaces, water heaters, dryers, etc.) to their electric counterparts that are more efficient, will save you money, and *bonus* don’t poison the air you and your family breathe.

Powering everything with 100% clean electricity in a way that saves you money usually means getting solar panels on your roof or signing up for community solar.
