Bans on plastic: Countries around the world are stepping up
Plastic is a big problem. Only 9% of all plastic ever made has been recycled. The rest goes to landfills, the ocean, and in plain sight.
But momentum against single-use plastics is building!
Countries and cities around the world are starting to take action on this issue and in a big way. Two of the most notable are recent announcements from India and the EU.
India has 1.3 billion people and is home to the fastest-growing major economy. They just pledged to eliminate all single-use plastic by 2022!
Similarly, the EU plans to ban many single-use plastics and is treating it as a priority.
So far, 60 countries have already introduced bans or levies to reduce single-use plastic waste!
